Title: Going for the Shore
Category: EMCON
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): After their first sex together, B wakes up and realizes that things won’t be easy, as D appears to have serious problems, scared as he is by his own inadequacy and by the intensity of B’s feelings. The relationship goes on, even as D tries more or less consciously to preempt B’s leaving by driving him away through sheer moody viciousness–yet B is steadfast and stays with D, even if tension starts building up, as the two still fail to find a common understanding. The situation is precipitated when on the job D has to choose between saving B’s life and a rookie colleague. D saves B, which is by the book, but he feels guilty of having done it for the wrong reasons — totally upset D goes out and shoots up heroin. Back home, B realizes what happened and is obviously angry but still willing to stick by D — yet his rage comes out in the form of a rather forceful and self-centered fuck. D’s reaction to this (he finds is too lonely) is deemed a good sign by B — but is he right?
