Category: SF
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): Human-looking aliens arrive on the earth to negotiate commerce.  B, as part of the security team, is spotted by an alien prince that wants to marry him. Under threats of destroying earth, B accepts the marriage.  On the trip back to the planet B and the prince are bethroted, a rite that involves being masked and a chaperon.  B falls in love, (the prince is obviously already there) and when they consummate the marriage it turns out that the alien prince (D) had met  and attracted B in the disguise of a British Foreign Service offcial.  All seems to go well, and the story chronicles B’s successful struggle to fit into the alien society, when disaster strikes: it turns out that the aliens are biologically-hormonally dependent on their partners while humans arent.  For the aliens this puts humans on the same plan of animals and the devil;  D goes into deep shock and rejects B.  B struggles hard to win him back, and almost gives up, trying to leave to go back to earth, but they finally manage to arrive at a reconciliation and  are reunited again.

Title: Zoe’s Vampire Snippet
Category: VAMPR (VAMPIRE)
Bodie tilted his head slightly. It wasn’t really a noise, more a change in
the quality of the silence that he’d sensed. The near-darkness enveloped
him, his surroundings illuminated only by the meagre efforts of the waning
moon. He focused on the weight of the gun in his hand, it’s textured grip
soothingly familiar. Taking a breath, he spun on his heel and found himself
facing a lean blond…man?…in a leather jacket. The gun jerked in his
hand, instinct taking over and prompting him to pull the trigger before his
conscious mind was fully aware of the danger.

Bloody hell! The blond clutched at his chest and stumbled backward a
step, then regained his balance. “That fucking hurt!” Glowing, inhuman eyes
slowly turned from their incredulous examination of the chest wound to
glare at Bodie. “Sod it. Dru can find herself another pretty toy.”

Bodie couldn’t move. The gun was useless in his hand and the breath frozen
in his lungs as the creature, fangs bared, launched itself at him with an
inhuman growl. He was going to die. In the instant between this realisation
and the cool burn of fangs sinking into his neck, his only thought was that
Ray was going to kill him for his carelessness.

D died seven years before, asking for B, who was in turn hurt in hospital and could not come: the shock and/or the previous wounds ruined B’s health and psyche. C thinks that D is calling B, who indeed has chest pains everytime he comes near remembering, and is also fascinated by the garden spot where, unbeknownst to all, C scattered D’s ashes. It is made clear that B is dying of his illness, and C anticipates scattering his ashes there too.

Title: Careful What You Wish For
Category: EMCON
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): D realizes he loves B and acts on impulse, throwing himself in the relationship and pushing B to do the same. B does, despite some worries. Distracted by this new feeling, D is sloppy on the job, and B lets himself slide a bit too — coupled with C’s determination to go alone in a possible trap, this leads to B&D arriving a trifle to late to save him. C dies and D is devastated by guilt. He decides that it is all his fault for being distracted by love, and tells B that they cannot be lovers anymore.  B begs and humiliates himself but to no avail. Suspension, while the inquest on C’s death proceeds, is hell: B has retreated into coldness and rebuffs D’s attempts to explain, justify, salvage the friendship.  Back to work in a CI5 that might be disbanded soon, they are partnered with other people (the new controller wormed the truth out of D) and slowly pine away. Cornered by the failure of personal and professional life, they finally give up and get back together. Things are not allright: C is still dead, CI5 might end, they wont be partners anymore, and above all the damage caused to D by guilt and to B by D rejecting him cannot ever be mended. But now they start anew and even if it is a dark world they have each other.

Title: Arabian Nights
Category: AU
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): Tiny unloved  adolescent D is sent by his uncle to Arabia to get him out of the way, despite D’s desire to be an artist. There he is given a boring office job at the embassy, and he finds his first friend, Zachary. Because of some political machinations, D and Z are chosen as scapegoats for the disappearing of a large sum of money, and left in the desert to be captured by sheik B. B is a fierce enemy of the English, despite his mother being one — there is mutual attraction between him and D, who met in town — but as B has quite a few psychological and attitude problems, he forces D to become his bedslave in exchange for Z’s life. D has to accept, and he is torn between hating and loving B, even after B softrapes him. They skirt their feelings continually, when  finally B is overcome by his traumas — his mother had been kidnapped out of love by his arabian father, and they had had a stormy relationship, till he killed her, while little B watched. B almost kills D in rage as D says he has to get back to England to save Z who is in prison accused of D’s death — but he eventually lets D go.   D saves Z and then goes to Paris to try and become and artist. Things arent well at first and he has to prostitute himself, then he becomes reasonably famous. After five years B learns that his real father was his English institutor (his mother was trying to get his help to run off) – he feels he has no right to his position with the bedouins, and as he has found his maternal grandfather (with the help of a picture of him D painted), he gets back to England.  B and D eventually meet again, discovering that underneath the rage and hate they are still very much in love; after D assaults B to het his own back sexually, they decide to live together happily ever after.

Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): B is disfigured with acid by a jealous lover, and this triggers a major psychological breakdown, as it echoes the abuse wrecked on him by his grandmother, who told him he was evil in a pretty disguise, and she tried to disfigure him.  Convinced that at last he has been marked visibly as evil, B relives all his bad actions (bad luck has that his nurese in hospital is a girl he deceived in Africa), included keeping D at a distance and their relationship shallow, even if D loves him.  In the end, B cracks:  he hits the nurse, (she had been seeing D, to compound the matter) and tries to commit suicide (but C tricks him into using dummy bullets). Title: Professional Dreamer
Category: AU
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): (Inspired by the movie American Dreamer). Ray Dibble is a mousy librarian who lives in his fantasy world fuelled by W. Philip Andrew’s potboiler novels about fictional characters B&D. Dibble is mistakenly involved in a botched CIA plot, resulting in half of the secret services after him — since Dibble hit his head, he thinks he is D and he goes to Andrew, believing him B, for help. They are on the run together, and Andrew moves from humoring the madman to falling in love with him. They both have emotional-life problems (Andrew retired from the SAS in turmoil) and somehow hiding from “real” life (if there is such a thing) – so when all gets resolved and Dibble is moreless himself again, they almost NOT get together — ultimately, however, they take the plunge and end up happily together and writing more Professionals novels in tandem.

Category: FSTIM (FIRST TIME)
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): C tells B&D that World War 3 is gonna start. A friend of his has a time machine, and they might go back and kill a key scientist so that the atomic bomb would never happen.  They go, but cant kill the scientist (B is wounded  and D cant kill in cold blood), they only wound a sentinel. They suddenly get back but they are in a different place, probably the far future — the energy from WW3 might have sent them there.
