Attraction leads to B befriending D and buying him off cruel master C. D was found by gypsies, who now have discovered that D is really noble and heir of a fortune — they persuade him to get back with them, and B follows him. They are intent on an adventourous life on the road, but B is badly hurt as they attempt to leap over a gypsy fire to show their love. They manage to return to B’s castle, despite being attacked by another B, the bandit (who ends up having a bunch of children from a nun). B the nobleman is eventually healed, D can claim his fortune, and the only regret is that Quentin, B’s stuffed stoat, has run off to be manager of the gypsiesÉ |
