Title: Empty Bed |
Category: POEM-DEATH |
God, Bodie, I hate it when The Cow splits us. |
You got any idea what it’s like |
in this empty bed of ours? |
It’s huge, Bodie, and the longer |
you’re gone the farther |
away the other side seems to be. |
Lyin’ here tonight –had a hell of a day– |
I got to thinkin’ what it would be like if…. |
Aw, I know, don’t say it: |
I think too much. |
But, Christ Bodie, without you, |
if I had to sleep in this bed –alone– |
every night for the rest of my life? |
Don’t think I’d last too long. |
What if…. what if… |
Sorry, mate, had a hell of a day. |
Learned something though, didn’t I? |
Can’t have it all. Nope. |
Just when you think life’s perfect |
you turn around and get slapped in the face. |
Bed’s cold. |
Been hugging your pillow; |
still has that Bodie-smell. |
Wish you were here to hold me, |
tell me to stop being stupid. |
Hate it when The Cow splits us; |
I’m not there to watch your back– |
it’s a perfect Bodie-target. |
We’re supposed to be together Bodie! |
I can’t be here, alone, in this bed. |
Big, cold —empty— bed. |
I know, you hate it when I get this way. |
God, Bodie, I had a hell of a day. |
Wasn’t there—couldn’t watch; |
if I did, then it would be real. |
Bodie? |
I think– |
They buried you today. |

Title: Monkey Suits with Satin and Lace-D |
Category: DEATH |
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): This is the summary of the first part, common to both this and the other version. D asks B to marry him, but B jokes and laughs about it, since it is impossible. D is upset, as he wants to be a proper couple outwards as well, like anyone else. B apologizes and tries to cheer him up. They get back home (it’s Xmas’ Eve), and B asks to be left at Marks&Spencer’s as he need Òshaving cream.” D goes for presents too, and when he gets back home he finds B already there. They have a romantic evening, D gives B his present of a sheepskin for the bed, and B gives D his present: a gold wedding band with an emerald! Happily ever after. From here on, the story changes: a sad Cowley knocks at the door, to see how D is doing. D happily pours 3 glasses of malt and calls B from the other room. Gently, Cowley prods D, and then has to jog his memory: B died that same afternoon, run over by a skidding car, in front of D, going to M&S. D denies it, and looks for B everywhere but he cant find it. Finally, triumphantly, he shows C the wedding ring; but as C pours him more malt, D sees the credit card receipt, signed by him, Raymond Doyle. He shoots himself. |

Title: Twas the Night Before Christmas |
Category: SONG |
Sung to the tune of: “Twas the Night, etc” |
|
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the streets, |
Not a creature was stirring, not even a thief! |
The trousers were flung on the floor without care |
followed by sweater and shirt and -oh- bedsprings beware! |
The sweaty hot lads finally snuggled down deep in their bed, |
with visions of KY and pickles -so sweet- in their heads. |
|
Young Betty in her kerchief, and Cowley in his cap, |
had just settled down for a long -yeah, right- nap. |
When out in the skys sirens made such a clatter, |
Bodie, Doyle, and Cowley all rose…with a splatter. |
Poor Betty was heard to exclaim, |
as she rinsed off in the shower… |
One at a time is okay…but all three -too much power! |
