They almost make it, but a booby trap bomb kills Bentley, they are recaptured and Layton is beaten to death. C, who at first had been revulsed by Bentley and Layton making love, finally understands that all love is holy especially set up against death and war. Title: In for a Penny, In for a Pound |
Category: CASE |
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): B is kidnapped and it looks like it was a front to cover his defection and return to mercenary forces. D is distraught, thinks he should have been more verbally demostrative (it is hinted that B had a very hard romantic time before, clandestine and hard, and now needs the verbal reassurance and lots of sweetness). He tracks B but he is beaten up. At this point an SAS colonel reveals the truth to C: B has been kidnapped by them and Peter Skellen has taken his place, so that he could contact the mercenary group who is attempting to use nuclear weapons. They need B’s collaboration to have as many details of his past as possible, but as he is allergic to truth serums they have to ask C to work with them. B helps them, but he does not want to have to stay hidden till the operation is over, especially since D is still unawares of how things really are: so he suggests that he and D are shipped abroad with false identities for a long paid holiday/honeymoon. Skellen provokes a confrontation with D, so that D resigning will be realistic, and then D is told everything. B&D leave and even get C’s unexpected approval of their relationship. |

Title: Sorcerer’s Web, The |
Category: FAN (FANTASY) |
Plot summary (very short pieces are sometimes copied here in their entirety): B has been sent by his sorcerer master to kill ranger D, but B finds he cannot carry out his orders as he is attracted to D. B joins the rangers and starts a relationship with D, saves his life and realizes he loves him. Resigned to his eventual punishment when his all-powerful masters get him, B nevertheless commits himself to protecting D. The sorcerer sends a messenger to tell B the plan has changed and he now has to bring D back to their Tower — unfortunately, D overhears and confronts B. The truth comes out — B is a Darusi, trained and conditioned since birth to obey the dark sorcerer Sagar. (Sagar had been thought dead after the War opposing bad and good magicians, but he is really still active and covertly wreacking havoc in the land). Good mage and ranger master C approves D’s plan — erase B’s memories of his change and let him take D to Sagar. D is immune to magic so should be able to fight Sagar and free their captured prince, so far thought dead. They do so, but Sagar has devised a way to submit D to magic, and all is almost lost, except B’s mindwipe and conditioning breaks under pressure and his latent magical powers take over, killing Sagar. All is well except B is in denial about his powers and therefore can’t be trained or made safe. Given his role and horrific, possibly unbreakable conditioning to evil, he should be killed — unless they can make him see and accept and master his powers. D accepts to help with the “convincing” and puts B through humiliating slavery and sexual submisison, till B explodes and his powers once again take over. Now convinced, he can be trained as a magician and pardoned. At this point, free from lies and constraints and having expiated most of their guilts and sins, B&D can try and rebuild their relationship. All ends well. |
